In Year 9 Think Bright at Brighton Secondary School, Isabella G. Conner commenced her Challenge Based project (CBP). It all started out with a few ideas scribbled into her book, but those ideas soon morphed into Immortal Memories. Isabella pitched her idea to her peers and teacher, Mr Egan, in her Dragon Den Presentation. After success in her proposal, she followed up by writing a document furthering on her presentation. Just five weeks later, Isabella was heavily invested in her research.
Isabella researched everything that she thought could appear in her novel. From the medieval court system to medieval diets, she covered as much as she could. When she believed that she had enough information, she started writing immortal memories.
After nine gruelling weeks, Isabella finished writing on the 11th of November, 2018, and on the same day she began the process of editing. Eventually, on the early hours of the 22nd of November, she sent her novel to print with an American company called “Blurb.”
Throughout the course of her project, Isabella learnt skills in time management and problem solving that she will take with her through the rest of her life. Her writing skills were at a much higher level at when she finished Immortal Memories compared to the narrative she finished just months before for English, called “The Step of Freedom.”
Even after she completed Immortal Memories, Isabella still had a lot of work left to finish for CBP, including a range of merchandise and this website.
Isabella G. Conner couldn’t be prouder of what she has achieved in just one semester. Although she does not want to be an author when she grows up, this has been a life-changing experience for her, and one that she certainly won’t forget in the near future.
